Chemistry of Life

Our department advances the frontiers of chemistry through the rational design and synthesis of next-generation materials with tailored structure and function. Faculty research spans nanomaterials, biomaterials, supramolecular chemistry, energy-relevant materials, and hybrid molecular systems, with particular strengths in nanoscale assembly, characterization, and device integration. By combining synthetic chemistry with advanced spectroscopy, computation, and materials engineering, researchers develop functional systems for catalysis, sensing, electronics, sustainability, and medicine. Collaborative and highly interdisciplinary, our program empowers students and researchers to create materials with precisely controlled properties that address fundamental scientific challenges and emerging technological needs.
