Graduate Student Travel Award Application
Each year the Chemistry Department receives funding to support Rice chemistry graduate student travel. This subsidy is provided to Rice Chemistry students who are presenting their research at a major conference, such as the American Chemical Society.
Students are highly encouraged to apply for a travel subsidy award each year. The travel subsidy amount ranges from $300-500 depending on available funding.
In order to use this travel subsidy across the Department we limit each lab to two awards per year. If we receive more than two requests per lab we will ask the advisor to select the two top students who should receive the subsidy. Chemistry graduate students can only receive the award once each year.
A portion of the funding received to support student travel is from the Shell Foundation. Currently, if you are presenting research related to energy, the Department will provide a subsidy of $500 from the Shell Foundation, provided funding is available. You need to indicate whether your research is related to energy and you must submit a copy of your abstract. Additionally, we request that you acknowledge the Shell Foundation for providing partial financial support for your presentation.
To apply for a travel subsidy, please complete the application below. Fields marked with a red asterisk are required. You will receive a response within 2-3 business days of your request.
If you have any questions, please contact Kari Stein at ks127@rice.edu or x5820.
FUNDING BEGINS JULY 1, 2024.
