Spectroscopy and imaging research at Rice Chemistry is centered on understanding the dynamic nanoscale interfaces that govern the behavior of biological systems, materials, and chemical processes. Faculty develop and apply cutting-edge spectroscopic, imaging, and computational approaches to visualize molecular interactions in real time, combining experiment, theory, and data science to bridge the gap between single-molecule events and macroscopic properties. This work provides fundamental insight into phenomena ranging from catalysis and energy conversion to membrane biology, advanced materials, and disease-related processes.
