Junrong Zheng

Assistant Professor of Chemistry

We are developing innovative techniques and methods to seek the molecular-level understanding of the common basic principles underneath many seemingly unrelated macroscopic phenomena ranging from heat dissipations in CPU, cell signaling, biomolecular denaturation and recognitions, batteries, heterogeneous catalysts, nanophotonics, and chemical dynamics of energetic materials. At the atomic level, all these sophisticated observations are dictated by the atomic coordinates and their time evolutions and energy fluctuations associated with the change of the coordinates. At the molecular level, the atomic properties are reflected by the three-dimensional molecular conformations and their fluctuations and the fluctuation induced molecular vibrations, rotations, and translations. Fundamental knowledge about these molecular details will be indispensable for the current nanotechnology to advance into a next level: angstromtechnology.
