Seminars
The department of Chemistry sponsors weekly, one-hour seminars featuring world-renowned scientists presenting diverse and interdisciplinary research topics. Refreshments are served, and each seminar is generally followed by a question and answer period. If you are not part of the Rice Community and wish to receive email notifications about our seminars please send an email to chem@rice.edu and ask to be added to our "chemfriends" mailing list.
Colloquia
The department also sponsors colloquia featuring a distinguished speaker. These events are often followed by a reception designed for more interaction with the guest speaker. The Chemistry Graduate Student Association sponsors one colloquium each semester.
Doctoral Candidate Thesis Defense
Doctoral candidates are required to present a thesis defense seminar that is open to the public and is generally held during the semester. For more details please refer to the Seminar Calendar.
