Undergraduate Student Award Opportunities

Departmental Awards:

Undergraduate students have several opportunities to win awards from the Department of Chemistry. Learn more about award details, history and the application process on the Awards page.

University Awards:

Distinction in Research and Creative Work - Department of Chemistry

Distinction in Research and Creative Works is a university award for select undergraduates, granted at commencement, which appears on the transcript and diploma. Students must apply within their department or program to be considered for the award and the application must be supported by a letter from a faculty member.

Applicants must be in good academic standing and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 in courses completed at Rice.

American Chemical Society - Student Affiliates

Students can join the American Chemical Society - Student Affiliates through participation in the Owlchemy Club.

Owlchemy Club

The mission of the Owlchemy club is to promote the study and enjoyment of chemistry throughout Rice University and the Houston community. The students seek to promote general awareness and enjoyment of all things chemistry and to provide a support network and source of companionship for those studying chemistry and fields related to chemistry. Members perform chemistry demonstrations at the Houston Museum of Natural Science and local schools.
